The typical cat vaccinations start at about six to 8 weeks and among them are distemper and a rabies vaccination. Booster shots may be needed at a later date. This is why it is best to set up a schedule for health care for cats for as often as your vet thinks is necessary. In case of emergency, your veterinarian should have a number where you can reach him or her.

Health care for cats does not mean that you have to spend a fortune on your cat. Many programs are low cost for those on a budget so that they can still have the health care for their cats.

There are many things you can do to participate in health care for cats to keep your feline healthy and happy. Your observance of your cat is the best preventive medicine that can be found. No one knows your cat as you do so the first sign of something being abnormal is going to be noticed by you.

You should watch for diarrhea. This normally is caused by feeding your cat the wrong foods. Most people think that it is OK to give their cat or kittens milk. However, this should be avoided. This can cause diarrhea. Bacteria and viruses are also culprits for causing this malady.

There may be indications of ear or eye infections that you can pick up on immediately. The eyes may have a discharge that does not stop. The ears can become smelly and the cat will scratch them very often. These are two signs of the need for health care for cats that will be provided by your vet. However, your powers of observance can spot this early and the treatment will stop a major problem from developing.

Cats can develop many ailments, which usually can be treated at home without the intervention of a vet. If symptoms do not go away within a reasonable amount of time or should they worsen, you need to consult a veterinarian. Health care for cats is beginning to play more of a role in keeping our furry friends happy and have the ability to play
